Wardens at Work

These deer were killed illegally on Opening Day of the 3 Muzzleloader Season. The unscrupulous poachers
Uses a pontoon boat to motor up to the deer as they tried b swim across Sardis Lake. Wardens D.G. Belcher and
Thomas Gillham working covertly as bass fishermen watched the whole episode and were able to apprehend the 10 individuals involved in this incident. Information obtained from the 2001 and 2002 seasons made these arrests possible. Concerned sportsmen provide valuable information. This aids in arrests that may not have been otherwise possible.

Pittsburg County Game Warden Shane Fields was called to the Bache area to investigate a report of a calf being hot with a bow and arrow. The thugs who commit such crimes are not hunters. Most times, however, hunters get blamed for such acts. Warden Fields, assisted by Pittsburg County Deputy Danny Kelly and Game Warden D.G. Belcher,- transported the calf to a veterinarian in McAlester, where the calf died from its wounds. Warden Fields continues his investigation into the incident.

These toms were poached in February, south of Clayton. Warden Dekota Cagle  investigated the call. The informant was only able to provide a description of the vehicle. The vehicle was observed in the area a few days later. After interviewing the driver, Warden Cagle was able to make an arrest.
